My favourite clean beauty and non-toxic skincare products.
I have been using organic and clean beauty skincare products for the past 20 years.
Many have asked me over the years what I use in my skincare routine, so I have compiled my favourites here for you.
My recommendations are based on my personal use. I have sensitive skin prone to redness. When I was in my 30’s and early 40’s I also dealt with combination skin. I celebrated my 50th birthday in 2020.
If you’re in your 50’s, it’s not too late to ditch toxic beauty and skincare products. And if you’re in your 20’s or 30’s, start using clean beauty products now.
Did you know that green-washing is rampant in the beauty industry? Green beauty has become such a trend that many companies will make claims to be natural, organic, or even eco-friendly as a sales and marketing tactic. This is green-washing.
On average, women use 12 personal care products a day, exposing themselves to 168 chemical ingredients. Men use six, exposing themselves to 85 unique chemicals. – EWG.org
The beauty industry is not regulated and therefore you must be diligent about researching the products that you use. The EWG.org and the Think Dirty App are great resources.
Many beauty and cosmetic products contain harmful ingredients and toxic chemicals that can disrupt your hormones and are simply not good for your overall health. Whatever you put on your skin is absorbed into your body.
The skin is your largest organ. The products that you put on your skin are absorbed into your body. Some of the worst ingredients to avoid are Parabens and Phthalates. Here is a more comprehensive list from the EWG.or of toxic chemicals to avoid.
Making the switch to a safer alternative for all of your skincare and beauty products is a simple way to reduce your toxic load.

Living Libations Best Skin Ever Seabuckthorn
Living Libations Best Skin Ever Seabuckthorn is my favourite oil cleanser. It’s great as a daily cleanser, and can also be used as a moisturizer. If you love a simple skincare routine, this is a great product. I love to use it at nighttime before bed. It’s lightweight, smells amazing, and my skin feels amazing after cleansing. I use a facecloth to gently wipe away the oil after cleansing which also adds a touch of exfoliation too.
Seabuckthorn is packed with omega fatty acids, vitamins, lipids, as well as many bioactive compounds. It can help to improve skin hydration, boost skin elasticity and firmness, and I find it also helps with clogged pores.
dōTERRA Veráge Skin Care Collection

Tata Harper Regenerating CLeanser
I first tried the Tat Harper Regenerating cleanser when it came in my monthly Detox Box. I love the monthly Detox box from The Detox Market because you save money and it’s a great way to try new products. I have discovered a few new favourites since ordering monthly.
This cleanser is on rotation with the Veráge cleanser and the Living Libations Seabuckthorn Best Skin Ever for my morning skin care routine. It is a gorgeous gentle exfoliating cleanser that purifies, hydrates, and polishes the skin. This cleanser is recommended for oily, combination, dry, and normal skin types. It contains fresh enzymes, rose clay, and botanical oils which help to clear the skin of impurities and also reduce the appearance of pores. Plant powered ingredients such as aloe, apricot, rice, and willow bark nourish your skin and help to bring out a natural glow.
Odacité Aloe + Immortelle Hydra-Repair Treatment Mist
I was first introduced to the Odacité brand when the Detox Market hosted a gua sha event with Valérie Grandury, the founder of Odacité. Originally from France, Valérie wanted to create a skin care line that married French skincare with green California living. The event was incredible and I continue to use my Odacité gua sha and favourite products regularly. This mist was recommended to me at the event by one of Odacité’s skin care experts.
The Aloe + Immortelle mist contains aloe and hyaluronic acid which is incredible for mature, dry, and sensitive skin. It also contains chamomile and rose water which is so soothing to sensitive skin. Use before applying your serum or as a final touch on top of makeup to set, after cleansing to tone and balance the skin.

Līhau Face Mist
I first tried the Līhau Face Mist when it came in my monthly Detox Box from The Detox Market. I fell in love with this face mist immediately. Līhua Face Mist is a beautifully aromatic blend of Hawaiian botanicals including sandalwood, vetiver, neroli, and blue tansy. All of these oils are incredible for your skin. The Hawaiian sandalwood is sustainably harvested on the Hāloa ‘Āina, a family-run sandalwood reforestation project on the Big Island. Yarrow Pom is my absolute must-have favourite product for keeping my skin hydrated and youthful looking, I use this twice a day and blend it with my favourite serum. This bottle of plant magic makes me feel like I’m ageing in reverse.

Odacité All Embracing Serum
The Odacité All Embracing Serum is a featherweight formula that leaves your skin soft, smooth, and glowing. I love blending this serum with a few drops of Yarrow Pom after cleansing and toning and before I apply moisturizer. My skin looks dewy, refreshed, and radiant with this serum and it never feels greasy. One of the keys to keeping your skin looking great in your 40’s and 50’s is to keep it moisturized.
This is a great serum for all skin types. Watermelon Seed Oil leaves your skin moisturized and the vitamins A, B, and E help to reduce the appearance of fine lines. Hibiscus flowers contain a multitude of antioxidants that promote a glowing complexion. The addition of colloidal oatmeal helps soothe and reduce the appearance of redness which I love. Redness and sensitivity are my two biggest skin issues.
I also love the fact that this serum infused with the protective energy of Amethyst crystal which is known for its ability to calm the mind and body, dispel negative energy, and instill inner peace.

Honua Aloha Youth Serum
The Honua Aloha Youth Serum is another great find from my monthly Detox Box. I have to admit when I first opened the bottle, I did not like the scent. However, it has since grown on me and I love how this youth serum makes my skin feel and look, and I have come to also love the scent.
The serum is silky, creamy, and luminous but not oily. It’s made with a select blend of Hawaiian botanicals. This serum is designed to hydrate, smooth, tighten, and brighten the skin’s appearance. This multi-tasking serum helps to soften fine lines while healing the skin. It’s infused with Ylang-Ylang and Turmeric. Hibiscus helps to firm and tighten while smoothing fine lines. Ōlena calms redness and reduces scarrings as it brightens the skin. Noni contains powerful anti-aging antioxidants, Vitamin C & Selenium. Kukui & Kamani Hawaiian oils provide essential fatty acids and antioxidants which help to promote the production of collagen. This will definitely be in my rotation for my sensitive skin which is prone to redness.
Odacité Ca + C | Sensitive Skin
Odacité is one of my favourite clean beauty brands. I have loved every product of theirs that I have tried.
This soothing serum is formulated to help even the most sensitive skin feel resilient, hydrated, and supple. Camelina oil imparts calming moisture, while chamomile and calendula work to reduce the appearance of redness.
This serum is my favourite. I use these serums on specific areas on my face where I need some additional skin support. I layer this serum over my cheeks and nose where I have redness.
I also love the Po + R |Hydration serum,
Po + R is the ultimate moisturizing and nourishing serum that boosts hydration while imparting the look of supple skin. Pomegranate oil is rich in fatty acids to soften and smooth skin, while rose geranium oil helps balance excess shine.
Lastly, I LOVE the Ap + P | Fragile Capillaries.
This soothing serum is expertly formulated for fragile and sensitive skin and is specifically designed to reduce the appearance of visible capillaries. Palmarosa oil’s calming aroma and moisturizing properties round out this efficacious blend.
I like to apply these serums specifically to areas that need a bit of extra care. Layer over your facial serum.
dōTERRA Rose Touch and Jasmine Touch
Floral essential oils are the dreamiest of oils. These oils are blended with fractionated coconut oil and are safe to apply directly to the skin.
Rose Touch helps to balance moisture levels in the skin and promotes a healthy and even skin tone. Rose Touch and Jasmine Touch are two of the oils that I recommend for your ultimate anti-aging oil kit that I customized for anyone looking to get started with essential oils for their skincare routine.
Jasmine Touch combines Jasmine absolute with fractionated coconut oil. It smells incredible. I love to roll it on my cheeks for a pick me up throughout the day. Bay Harbour Raspberry Facial Serum
Bay Harbour is a local Barrie natural skincare company. I love this Raspberry Facial Serum. It contains skin-soothing ingredients of Vitamin A and essential fatty acids. This serum has high levels of antioxidants which hydrate the skin and leave it feeling soft and smooth.
This serum contains Calendula oil, Jojoba oil, Olive oil, Carrot Seed oil, Cistus oil, Lavender oil, and of course Raspberry seed oil.
Use this serum daily after cleansing your face by gently massaging into the skin and following it with a moisturizer.
Odacité Green Aventurine Facial Gua Sha
Apply the Odacité All-Embracing Serum to your skin to create a perfect glide for your Gua Sha treatment.

The dōTERRA Immortelle anti-aging essential oil blend is one of my favourite oil blends for your skin. It contains the essential oils Frankincense, Hawaiian Sandalwood, Lavender, Myrrh, Helichrysum, and Rose essential oils.
Simply roll onto fine lines and wrinkles daily after cleansing the skin. The essential oils in this blend are known for their beautifying benefits and they are great for more radiant youthful-looking skin.
I have also used Immortelle and Yarrow Pom on my Mohs surgery scar daily now for two years. Both are great for your skin, including scars. I had this surgery in April 2019 to remove Basal Cell Carcinoma under my left eye. My scar has healed quite nicely using only essential oils, and Vitamin E oil.
Bay Harbour Restore | Rosehip Nighttime Facial Moisturizer
The Bay Harbour Restore Rosehip Night Moisturizer is an overnight moisturing powerhouse! This facial moisturizer is formulated with premium oils including Sweet Almond Oil, Rosehip Seed Oil, Beeswax, Mango Butter, Vitamin E, Frankincense and Geranaium essential oils.
It smells amazing and is so healing for the skin overnight and is great for mature or aging skin. I definitely need a night time moisturizer that hydrates well, and this one has been great for my skin.
dōTERRA Detoxifying Mud Mask
This detoxifying mud mask from dōTERRA contains natural earth clays, nourishing botanicals, and purifying minerals. It’s infused with Myrrh, Juniper Berry, and Grapefruit essential oils which are all known for their cleansing properties.
The clay is Kaolin which is naturally rich in minerals which can help to reduce the appearance of oily skin. Other ingredients include shea butter, malachite extract which provides detoxifying benefits, and lentil seed extract which helps reduce the appearance of pores.
Apply a thin layer and leave on for 3-5 minutes and then rinse off with a warm face cloth and water.
Since I have quite sensitive skin, I do notice my face is red immediately following this mask, however, this goes away within 10-15 minutes. *Not everyone reacts with redness
Odacité Jasmine Whisper Body Oil
This body oil from Odacité is so beautifully light and moisturizing. Plus, Jasmine is one of my favourite floral scents. Its soft, sweet, and heavenly floral aroma lifts your mood.
Jasmine is the flower of love, happiness, and spiritual longing. This body oil also combines hemp and jojoba oils which provide great hydration without a greasy finish.
I love using a body oil vs a body moisturizer. It’s much quicker to apply and adds a beautiful satin finish to your skin.
dōTERRA Reveal facial system
The dōTERRA Reveal two-step facial system contains a refining polish and a peptide activator. I love to use this system a couple of times a week for that extra spa-like facial treatment.
This system contains Wild Orange and Lime essential oils which provide a purifying boost to the skin. The pumpkin enzyme assists in the exfoliation process without irritating or stressing your skin.
It also contains natural bamboo silk beads which provide gentle and effective exfoliation which is important for sensitive skin and leaves your skin fresher and younger-looking.

Now let's look at cosmetics
I have to admit that I have never been much of a cosmetic user. I like the minimal approach to makeup. With that said, it’s still important to use clean cosmetics. Have you ever looked at the ingredients list in your cosmetics? You’ll definitely want to start reading these labels as much as you read the labels on the food you eat.
Coola Rōsilliance Mineral BB+ Cream Tinted Organic Sunscreen SPF 30. This tinted moisturizer helps to support fresh and healthy-looking skin while giving you a radiant glow. It blends very well and has a barely-there feel which I love. Rose stem cells replenish, moisturize and smooth your skin for soft and youthful-looking skin. Broad-spectrum 30 SPF, mineral protection, water resistance, tinted, Farm to Face, antioxidant-enriched, cruelty-free.
AVA ISA Sun-É-Serum Drops is ultra-matte and very lightweight. It blends in transparently and immediately and offers mineral SPF protection without that greasy feeling. It contains zinc and Micah, which is an antioxidant that prevents free radicals. This SPF 35 defends against UVA and UVB and is perfect under makeup too. Shake well before each use.
Full Spectrum 360° Sun Silk Drops Organic Face Sunscreen SPF 30. These lightweight drops provide broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection and help to mitigate the effects of blue light, IR, and pollution. You can barely feel it on your skin and it is very sheer coverage. Hyaluronic Acid nourishes your skin. This is my go-to sunscreen for the winter months when I am spending much more time indoors and on screens.
RMS Beauty Master Radiance Base. This cream highlighter is an antioxidant-rich blend of jojoba oil, chia, and meadowfoam seed oils that hydrate and smooth your skin, while light-reflecting pearls give a soft and radiant finish. This multi-purpose formula can be used alone, as a base, or mixed into your foundation for an effortless glow. I love to use it on its own most days, as I very rarely use foundation. {pictured hed on the top}
RMS Beauty “Un” Powder. This light-reflective powder softens the skin and absorbs oil. It’s available in three shades. I use the 0-1 on my skin. I do prefer a more dewy look most days, and mostly just use the master radiance base, but I love to add a touch of this powder to my T zone area if I am heading out for dinner to minimize shine on an evening out. {pictured here in the middle}
RMS Beauty “Un” Cover-Up Cream Foundation. This foundation is modeled after the favourite “Un” Cover-Up is a skin-loving formula with a nutrient-rich blend of oils and herbs including turmeric. It’s great for all skin types, especially those who love dewy radiance. I never wore a foundation before this one and only use this foundation for a special night out. {pictured here on the bottom. W3LL PEOPLE Expressionist Mascara. This cult favourite mascara has an ultra-creamy formula to volumize and lengthen lashes. It contains beeswax and vitamin E-rich sunflower seed oil which conditions for clump and flake-free lashes. I love the brush and the mascara is good for every day.

I prefer the “Un” Cover-up for covering areas that need help and the Master Radiance Base for my everyday natural makeup look.
