Essential oils and aromatherapy have long been used to promote health, beauty, and romance. Essential oils can directly impact our mood and emotion. When we inhale a pure essential oil, the scent is processed through the brain’s olfactory system which is connected to the limbic system, an area of the brain where memories and emotions are stored.

Some of the most popular essential oils used in aromatherapy to increase passion are Rose, Neroli, Jasmine, Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang. Scent can play a big role in intimacy by helping soothe the body, relax the mind and boost self-confidence which can also get you in the mood for love.

You can use essential oils in a massage lotion or oil or simply wear these oils as your natural “pure-fume” to inspire romance, increase sexual desire and boost your libido. Diffusing essential oils is also an easy way to set the mood and help bring a little more love into your life. Three of dōTERRA’s newest oils Jasmine, Rose, and Neroli are all great to help get you in the mood.

Jasmine Essential Oil for Romance

Jasmine essential oil has an intensely floral aroma. It is a great oil to use as a personal fragrance throughout the day. Layer Neroli with Jasmine on your wrists to increase libido. You could also use this as a sensual massage oil for men or women. Jasmine nurtures healthy sexuality and may also help increase your sex drive.

Jasmine essential oil can also help to calm nerves and increase positive feelings, confidence, and euphoria. Jasmine is known as the “King of Flowers” and it is prized for its delicate white and intensely fragrant flowers. The essential oil extraction process is extremely labour-intensive and must be done at daybreak when the flowers are most fragrant and have the highest percentage of aromatic components. For this reason, Jasmine is highly sought after in both the perfume industry and in aromatherapy. It’s one of my favourites. I have it on hand all the time, and I love to layer Jasmine with both Neroli and Rose as a personal scent. Jasmine also blends very well with Ylang Ylang and Sandalwood.

Rose Essential Oil for increasing connection and sexual intimacy

doTERRA Rose Touch is one of my new favourite oils. The romantic floral fragrance is simply divine. Traditionally, Rose oil has been used as an aphrodisiac as a natural perfume and epitomizes romance. Rose oil is often referred to as the Queen of oils or the Oil of Divine Love. Rose oil holds a higher frequency than any other essential oil at 320 MHz. Essential oils in the higher frequency ranges are great for emotional healing and wellness which may help with sexual intimacy, bonding and connecting with another person at a deep emotional level. I have also used Rose essential oil for over 15 years in my skincare routine. It has amazing benefits for keeping your skin healthy and glowing.

Neroli Essential oil may help increase sexual desire

Neroli essential oil has a light, floral scent. Neroli essential oil is known to increase sexual desire. Neroli oil is derived from the wild orange blossoms and is a very precious oil.  Neroli oil comes from the white flowers of the bitter orange tree. There is also a legend of Cleopatra soaking the sails of her ship with Neroli and Jasmine oil before sailing up the Nile to seduce Marc Anthony.

Love is in the Air Roller Blend

5 drops Wild Orange

3 drops Ylang Ylang

2 drops Patchouli

3 drops Hawaiian Sandalwood

5 drops Bergamot

Sandalwood essential oil also has aphrodisiac qualities and is often a base note oil when mixing a blend. It has a woody aroma and blends very well with floral and citrus oils. Ylang Ylang is another oil that has been traditionally used for love and romance. It has a sweet floral and romantic scent. This is one of my favourite oils to diffuse for a night of romance. Try blending it with Citrus Bliss in the diffuser.
